We have demonstrated successes supporting a variety of federal agencies such as Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), HUD Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Small Business Administration and other recovery programs and we partner Nationwide with State and Local Governments.

Positions are available for those able to work in Hurricane affected areas for 3-6 months and longer. This important work takes a special commitment and you ll need to be able to commit to some long hours under challenging circumstances but we, like you, know why this matters. As a Senior Specialist you may be enlisted to support more complex projects or serve as a mid-line supervisor in managing complex grant requirements specified by the Stafford Act for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance (PA) Program, FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program.

_Key Responsibilities:_

  • Supervise Disaster Recovery Case Specialists and other staff
  • Provide training on program policies and procedures
  • Ensure that staff provides the highest level of customer service, and that applicants fully understand program requirements and are frequently updated on application and grant progress
  • Confirm duplicative benefits (e.g. insurance, SBA loans) and scope adjustments
  • Validate grant agreements, letters, and other required program documents
  • Ensure all hard copy and automated files are updated and maintained in strict accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Interact with senior staff from local, state and federal government agencies
  • Coordinate public outreach events and off-site applicant meetings
  • Present technical information in key meetings

Qualifications

_Basic Qualifications:_ * Bachelor's degree; relevant experience may substitute * 2 of related work experience * Advanced Excel and database proficiency * Intermediate accounting or financial proficiency * Excellent understanding of and ability to analyze tax returns, property deeds, insurance, and other program-related documents * Exceptional ability to articulate details in a manner understandable to variety of individuals in person and over the phone * Good understanding of and ability to articulate design, permitting and other construction-related subjects * Ability to work successfully with socio-economic and ethnically diverse applicants * Skilled in multi-tasking, organizing and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment * A flexible schedule that can accommodate some evening or weekend work as may be required _Preferred Skills/Experience:_ * Supported federal grant program(s) on two or more Presidentially-declared events * Language Proficiency: Bilingual preferred, Spanish and English _Professional Skills:_ * Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. * Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capabilities. * Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
